Privacy Policy

How the Human Rights Digital Library handles information, cookies, submissions, and privacy rights.

Data controller

The Human Rights Digital Library is operated by the Shaista Ikramullah Human Rights Education Centre (SIHREC) under the Huqooq-e-Pakistan II Project, implemented by UNDP Pakistan with funding from the European Union.

Information we collect

We collect limited technical information needed to operate and secure the platform, such as browser and device information, pages visited, searches, downloads, timestamps, and security logs. It is anonymized or aggregated wherever possible. We do not offer public user accounts. When you contact us or submit content, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email, affiliation, and submission.

How information is used

Information is used only to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the platform; respond to enquiries; review and moderate submissions; monitor performance; and meet legal or operational obligations. It is not sold, rented, traded, or used for commercial advertising.

Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies support secure core website functions and, where applicable, administrator authentication. They cannot be disabled. Optional analytics cookies are used only with your consent and can be accepted, declined, or withdrawn at any time through Cookie Settings.

Downloads and external resources

Aggregate download statistics may be recorded to improve content curation. Copyright remains with the respective rights holders unless otherwise stated. External websites and services have their own privacy policies.

Sharing, security, and retention

Information is shared only with authorized operational personnel and providers, with UNDP Pakistan and funders as anonymized aggregate statistics, or where required by law. The platform uses HTTPS, role-based access, encrypted administrator passwords, backups, secure authentication, and activity logging. Information is retained only as long as necessary and is then deleted or anonymized.

Your rights and contact

You may request access, correction, deletion where applicable, withdrawal of consent, or object to certain processing. To exercise a right or raise a concern, use the Contact Us page. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Accessibility, language, and updates

The library is designed according to WCAG 2.1 AA principles. Contact us if you encounter a barrier. The platform is available in English and Urdu; if the two policy versions differ, the English version prevails. This policy may be updated and the effective date changed when needed.
